Massively expand public housing

  • Keep public housing public and oppose all privatization efforts within MPHA.

  • Rehabilitate existing public housing units with energy and electrical upgrades.

  • Work to expand the stock of city-owned public housing, including a diverse range of location and housing type.

Fair housing for students

Create a student and tenant task force to work with all new student housing developments in Ward 2 to design quality affordable and student housing.

Renters Rights

  • Fully fund Minneapolis Right to Counsel Program.

  • Pass Right of First Refusal.

  • Guarantee moratoriums on evictions for tenants and the unsheltered during crises.

Democracy in development

  • Invest in housing cooperatives and land trusts. 

  • Ban new development that destroys Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing. 

  • Up the percentage of affordable units required in all new developments to at least 50% based on 30% of the lowest Area Median Income.

  • Increase community and resident control of MPHA .

  • Support and fund existing land trust organizations.

  • Create pathways for Black and Brown collective ownership.
